Fathmath Dheema Ali Clinches Third Consecutive Best Sportswoman Title

At the Maldives Sports Awards 2024, Fathmath Dheema Ali once again secured the title of Best Sportswoman, marking her third consecutive win. Since the introduction of the Sports Awards in 2022, Dheema has claimed the honor every year except the inaugural one.

Last night’s ceremony celebrated the nation’s most outstanding athletes and sports officials from 2024. A year that became one of the pinnacles of Dheema’s sporting career. She not only qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France but also emerged as the champion of the Olympic qualifying stage, becoming the only Maldivian athlete to earn the opportunity to compete at the Olympics.

The Best Sportsman of the Year award went to Moosa Munsif Ahmed, who advanced to the quarterfinals of the South Asian Olympic Qualifying Tournament as part of the National Men’s Team.

Dheema and Munsif were recognized as the top performers in Olympic sports. In categories outside Olympic disciplines, bodybuilder Azneen Rashad was honored as Sportsman of the Year, and Eema Abdul Sattar, representing netball, was named Best Sportswoman in Non-Olympic Sports.
